Trip diaryWell its currently the 25th, but its the first time I've bothered writting. We've just left Canberra at 9.11am and we are driving down the federal highway listening to Pink Floyds the wall. To our right it the most amazing site of yellowy, greeny fields flat for ages with hills on the far side, it looks almost like some sort of alien sea. The road is flat on one side and steep hills covered in trees on the other. Anyway - this is supposed to be a diary - So I'll try and start at the beginning 22nd DecMy party! Much fun, I dresed as dorothy and looked cool - I'm sure I'll link to some photo's. Mike's got new digital camera, its a very nice toy, and we have scads of photo's now. I got kinda bored at about midnight and decidedto pack for my trip. 23rd DecWas awake at 8am, had trouble sleeping being very excited, and wanted to leave by 9am. Rang Mike - said lets leave, tried to leave by 9.30am, unfortunately it was closer to 11am. The trip to Canberra took longer tht usual - As we had to keep going slow and varing the car speed to work in the new engine. Stopped at the Service Center between Melb and Albury andI got to drive. I wasn't feeling to perky, so I did very little of my share of the driving, but Mike was more than happy to drive :). Stopped at Albury - they refused to let tradition be satisfied (bad omen I'm sure:) and so we didn't stop at Hungry Jacks - some ppl just have no respect for tradition. We did however stop at the truck stop in Gundagai so that was okay - even if I didn't write on any napkins. Rocked up at Canberra at about 7/8ish - meet Liz at Avelines and spent some time eating and talking til I passed out. Was very sleeepy. 24th DecAny thoughts of getting up early were squished in the most pleasurable way, however we did eventually get up after awhile and went through some touristy info on Canberra. We decided to go to the Mt Stromlo observatory, and had a tour of the telescopes and a slide show of the universe, and some exhibits, apparently on the sun I would weigh one and a half tonnes, but thasts okay cos Mikey weighed in at 2.5 tonnes. I was only 8kg on the Moon though. We also had some lovely food in the cafe there - I had a pasta with a thai green curry sauce which while a weird combo tasted very nice - they did good milkshakes too :) The gift shop had a blow up r2d2 but I resisted the urge. Unfortuanately I started feeling really sick at this point, which kind of killed plans to go to the Canberra Space Center and so we instead drove around Canberra a bit, went around Civic, and around parliment house and then drove around and looked at lots of different embassies, all the different architechtural styles were facinating, and we took lots of photos, Mike is amused by the idea of secret police and playing with them, I just wanted photo's of the tiggrr's on the wall of the Malayasian (?) embassy. I then went home to have a nap and hopefully start feeling better - lack of medication appears to be affecting me. And when I get to Sydney I can get some of Arwens anti naseua medecine. Mike and Aveline went shopping for groceries and stuff, and Liz came over. Me and Liz talked lots and Mike brought me a glow in the dark plastic skellington which me and Liz assembled -unfortunately some of the joins snapped during disassembly, so I'll need to rapir it. He also brought a platypus in a can. I'd been a very good tiggrr and so we then allowed to go play in the park - the maze thing I wanted to see was closed, so we went to commonwealth park instead. Liz showed us this amzing giant anthill like play thing - designed for smaller children than us, it was nonetheless impressive - lots of tunnels and stuff inside this giant rock structure. We then went oout on a little floating jetty that really pleasant and lay around chatting and calling ppl. Nigel came over for diner and it was nice and socialable like talking into the evening. 25thEww..scary scary giant white doll, puppet type thing, not good first thing in the morning! A present to aveline from Antti. Left Canberra and now I'm typing.
